The Prague Civil Society Centre is a non-profit organisation supporting and empowering civil society and independent media in Eastern and Central Europe, the Caucasus, and Central Asia. As an Associate Grants Director, you will combine both programmatic work as well as share the leadership with the Grants Director. This role requires strong knowledge of the full grant-making cycle (including proposal development, budget management, reporting, and compliance), and cross-team collaboration, working closely with programme, finance, and outreach teams to align grant strategies with organisational goals.

Tasks and responsibilities:

Assist the Grants Director in leading and managing the grants team, providing direction, mentorship, and support to ensure the effective execution of all aspects of the grant-making cycle, in particular:

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the Grants team; share responsibility for decision-making, collaborating with the Grants Director and internal teams to make informed, strategic choices related to grants management and organisational priorities; among others, substitute for the Grants Director in the grant selection process, ensuring continuity and consistency in decision-making
  • Assist the Director in the development, submission, and monitoring of funding proposals, applications, and reports, ensuring alignment with funding requirements and deadlines
  • Contribute to driving continuous improvement by monitoring and evaluating grant-making processes and providing recommendations for greater efficiency and effectiveness
  • Support cross-team collaboration, working closely with programme, finance, and operations departments to align grant strategies with organisational objectives and goals, ensuring smooth integration of funded projects
  • Assist in the creation of strategies to expand funding opportunities and enhance the organisation’s grant portfolio
  • Build and maintain relationships with donors, ensuring open communication and alignment with funding priorities
  • Assist in preparing reports for senior management
  • Aid in problem-solving and conflict management within the grants team and across departments, ensuring issues are addressed in a constructive and timely manner

Qualifications and requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in management, with a focus on team leadership, cross-department collaboration, and grant portfolio oversight
  • Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., non-profit management, business administration, social sciences, etc.)
  • Good understanding and interest in the political, social, and economic situation in Eastern Europe, Caucasus, and Central Asia
  • Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with teams both inside and outside of the organisation (donors); among others, ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines while ensuring high-quality work, and demonstrated experience in problem-solving, conflict management, and fostering effective teamwork in a fast-paced environment
  • Proven ability to assist in decision-making, and supporting senior leadership in strategic planning related to grants and funding priorities
  • Experience in monitoring and evaluating the impact of grant-funded projects, with a focus on aligning outcomes with organisational goals
  • Strong understanding of grant compliance requirements and the ability to navigate complex funding regulations
  • Familiarity with grants management software and reporting tools
  • Excellent command of English and proficiency in Russian
  • Candidate should have access to the Czech labour market

The starting salary for this position is CZK 63,000 for full-time employment (40 hours per week) with the possibility of adjustment based on skills and experience.
