What will you learn?

You’ll learn how to make short captioned videos, tailored for sharing on social media – a format that can generate you tens of thousands of views. The training will include crash course in video making, editing in Adobe Premiere and writing.

You won’t just come away with new skills, but contacts as well. The Lviv Video Quest hopes to build bridges, links and connections between young people from Ukraine, the Caucasus and Central Asia.

How does it work?

During the school, participants will be divided into ten teams. Each team will produce their own video with the expert guidance of professional trainers. The final video will include English subtitles and won’t be longer than two minutes. The themes of the videos: Civic initiatives aimed at improving social conditions in Ukraine.

The trainers will be professional journalists and video editors from leading international outlets. They will share their experience of creating and promoting video content for social media. They’ll also support you as you work on your own projects during the school.

You will film with your own smartphones during the school and gain know-how and skills you can use straight away.

The best videos from the school will be published on the social media pages of international media.

Who can participate?

We are looking for people between the ages of 18 and 26, who already have some video making experience and live in one of the following countries: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan or Uzbekistan.

Applicants can be civil society representatives, activists, journalists, bloggers and video bloggers. Those who either actively maintain their blogs/vlogs, have experience in non-profit organizations or the media will have a better chance for selection.

Who are the Video Quest organisers?

The Lviv Video Quest is jointly organised by the School of Journalism of the Ukrainian Catholic University, Lviv Media Forum and Prague Civil Society Centre. This is the latest in a series of video schools. The first one took place in Lviv in 2017 followed by another in 2018. Since then we’ve organised schools in Almaty (with MISK) and Bishkek (with Kloop).
