Who can take part?
Civil society representatives, activists, social entrepreneurs, journalists, bloggers and video bloggers from Central Asia (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan)
What will you learn?
You’ll learn how to make short captioned videos, specially designed for sharing on social media. This format can generate tens of thousands of views. As well as this, there will be a crash course in photography and writing.
The trainers will be professional journalists from leading international outlets and video editors from Kloop – Kyrgyzstan’s leading independent news outlet. They will share their experience of creating and promoting video content for social media. They’ll also support you as you work on your own projects during the school.
You will film with your own smartphones during the school. We will give you a stabiliser after the course so when you get home you’ll have all equipment and know-how to use your new skills straight away.
The best videos from the school will be published on the social media pages of international media and Kloop.
Who can take part?
We are looking for young people, between the ages of 18 and 26, who already have some video making experience and live in one of the five Central Asian countries: Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan.
Priority will be given to active bloggers or video bloggers as well as people from small towns and rural areas who already have some experience with non-profit organisations or the media.
What will it cost?
The organisers will pay for:
• Food and accommodation (two participants per room)
If you successfully complete the course, we will give you a stabiliser for your phone.
